Fancied a change.

I spend a lot of time walking outdoors, in nature, enjoying birdsong, noticing the subtle changes to the landscape around me. But sometimes, as with anything in life, one craves a change of scene.
Perhaps that will come in the form of a day out, a holiday, taking in some culture, who knows. But it's nice to branch out and do something different.

I've mentioned before about embracing the everyday and how sometimes I feel like I take the some photos year after year, in the same places. I really have been craving a change lately, wanting to try something new.
So this morning I got up at 6am and headed into the nearest city, Southampton, for a bit of a wander. Street photography has always captivated me, there's such an art to it that I have never been able to really grasp the hang on. There's street photography and then there's just random photos I take on the streets, the two feel a world apart. But I wanted to scratch the 'let's try something new' itch and so off I went.

I Loved being out and about before most other people, it felt a little 28 days later / covid times. This environment is so far removed from my usual haunts but I found that exciting, new and well, just what I was looking for – different.

I parked down by the train station where there's some cracking brutalist architecture and details which I'm going to describe as 'gritty'.

I'm really enjoying the presets used to edit these by the way. They are The Daily Collection by the lovely James Popsys.
Talking of presets I'm part way through compiling a huge comparison article that share the same 3 images edited with dozens of different presets by some of my favourite photographers - hopefully I'll get my arse into gear and get that published this week. ✌️
Finally, in amongst all the waste bins and empty booze bottles, I found a little patch that ironically looked a lot like what I was trying to get away from photographing...

All shot with my trusty Canon EOS R5 btw.
Peace out!
