Embracing the everyday.

Embracing the everyday.

I feel a distinct pressure sometimes to try new things in photography, one example is to edit more like 'the trend' (currently in my instagram feed that's generally a hyper colorful Fujifilm vibe). Honestly I find Instagram overwhelming at the best of times, and that's a post for another day, soon though I suspect.

Anyway, one thing I do take a lot of photos of, mainly due to my location, is nature. I love getting down to ground level and looking closely at plant life. It's totally mindfulness, I love the moments as much as I love the photos. But I take a lot of this type of photo. A couple of years back I had a complete creative fug due to the fact that I felt like I was going out season after season, year after year, taking essentially the same photos. It all felt a bit pointless and dare I say it, I was bored.

These days I take a lot less photos of nature and it's something people comment to me on a lot (another mental note to loop back to in an instagram post) but once in a while I cannot resist heading back out to it.

Since we got back from the States, Al and I have had horrible cold bugs in turn. It's been grim. It's been even more grim for being during the nicest two weeks of weather the UK has seen all year. My coworkers have been talking about how hot it's been and I've been indoors feeling pretty cold.

I'm happy to report the bug is subsiding now and I'm starting to feel much better. I took these the first evening I started to feel well enough to venture outdoors on foot, just at the top of our lane where I knew the wildflowers and hedgerow would be in full flow. I felt a lot like a mole peeping its head into the sunlight – really soothed by the warmth (and feeling well enough to appreciate it!)

Here's my little photo dump, shot with my Canon EOS 5 and 50mm 1.8 lens. Because although they are just 'boring nature photos' I do think I need to share more of the everyday. 💚
