About

Hey there, I'm Annie, a photographer and the Management Lead at Unsplash, which is part of the Getty Images family. Think of me as the all seeing ποΈ.
I'm located in the beautiful New Forest National Park, in England, UK, where I live with my family and stinky geriatric greyhound.
Where are my manners? Welcome to my blog. I used to write a blog years ago called Mammasaurus and just like back then, I still write exactly how I talk. You'll either love that or find it really annoying. This is my space to write about photography and illustration projects, thoughts, ideas and reviews. I can't promise that I won't go off on a tangent at any given time. It's the curse of the creative. π€ͺ
People often ask me about my photography journey so if you are interested read on (if not skip merrily across to my recent blog posts π).
Photography wise, I give the vast majority of my photos (and more recently illustrations) away for free usage on Unsplash. I've around 28,000 free images available currently and that number grows weekly.
I started out as a hobbyist, letting others use my work just because I wanted to share moments that I found beautiful with other people (and because it felt like a nice thing to do). Since then I've signed a handful of image licensing agreements from art and print retailers reaching out wanting to sell my work after seeing it on Unsplash. Eight years later this remains a nice bit of passive income and I continue to shoot only what I want to, never what I'm asked to. For me, that's the key to keeping the love for photography alive.
More recently I've started contributing to Unsplash+, where I have access to different briefs and can select what I'd like to shoot for. A bit like a traditional stock photography model, only it's a very close knit, small community and you get paid outright for every image accepted. If interested you can read more about contributing to Unsplash+ here.
